W2K DNS Help!

I'm trying to setup a W2K DNS and it doesn't work the same way as the NT4 DNS I setup

basically install NT4 on 1 machine and W2K Server on another

Install basic DNS Server on both and took out everything

On NT4 create a new zone call mine.com and added 192.168.1.1 as server1.mine.com

On W2K create a new zone call mined.com and added 192.168.2.1 as server1.mined.com

On the NT4, it's able to goto root and resolve www.yahoo.com or x.x.com

On W2k, it says can't find DNS...

any clue.. ideas..website..

Have you added in the forwarders so that the server knows where to resolved a query if it cannot do it locally? Under the properties of your server you should have a forwarders tab. Put the dns server of your ISP in there and you should be good to go.

Actually thats what I have now under w2k but I rather not use fowarder... I rather it go straight into root... any clue ? The NT4 machines seems to work w/o fowarder...
