Anyone know what causes this message?
Disk I/O error: Status = 00008001.
It occurs just after BIOS screen at boot up and just before the black and white windows screen. It lasts for about 10 seconds, then Windows starts up OK. I started seeing this after temporarily slaving a nearly dead second drive for file rescue purposes.
Later on , after windows seems fully loaded (icons already on the desktop, etc.) I get an error window from qttask.exe saying there is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive/Device/Harddisk1/DR1.
This started a week or so after the other message, and nay not be related. Anyway, the system is a little flakey. I did a virus scan.
If it matters, system is L7S7A2 + 2400XP, no oc.
I found the 00008001 topic in the archives (2001) but no response. Any ideas?
Edit: I got rid of the qttask error with updated sound board drivers. After the HD crash I guess I never got updated drivers. But, still have 00008001 error.
