I recently installed windows 2000pro. When the system boots up it states on one of the screens for me to select whether I want Windows 2000 Pro or Windows. I didn't ask for a dual boot or anything, so why is it there? How do I get rid of it; as it sits there for 30secs before going by default and starts with the w2kpro.

ok, so I'm reading this off my xp box, but i think it's the same....

control panel > system
Startup and recovery tab - it should be in there.

G'luck!

My guess is you had fdisked and sys'd the drive before you installed Win2k.
The second entry Windows is probably a boot to DOS command line. Since that
makes flashing your BIOS easier since you don't need a boot disk, I'd suggest just
changing the countdown from 30sec to 3-5sec, not to long but enough if you want
to make a choice.

Thanks guys! Found the setting for which I can change the timing from 30secs to whatever I wish. I had fdisked and formatted the disk beforehand with my win98se startup disk then installed w2k :p. However, if I hadn't done that, would that second "windows" option still be there, or is it there no matter what? I selected it as I was curious what it did, and it just brought me to the dos prompt C:\

Yah, I just lowered the wait time :)

Never know, might come in handy later on...
