 Changed motherboard and CPU to from Asus CUSL2/PIII866 to P4PE/P4-2.4 and Windows 2000 will not boot. The startup screen comes up to start windows but before it finishes I get a blue screen saying "Stop: 0x000007B" "Inaccessible_boot_device". It seems that the drivers for the storage controller are not being recognized by windows so it stops. I unloaded the storage drivers from the inf file on the Asus CD but that did not help. The MS knowledgeBase leads me to believe that I am going to have to reload Windows to get my new rig working. This seems absolutely ludicrous to me. Is there a better way? I would really hate to have to reload all my programs and settings.

I have the exact same problem with P4PE. However, everytime I clean install Win2k, it hanged. The hdd is perfectly fine as I can boot it in my other system. I'm going to install Win2k SP3 from other sytem and put the hdd back to P4PE. Let's hope it can fix this problem. Will keep you update.

I must install Win2k for over 10 times under P4PE. No matter what I do, it always hang and when I switch the hdd to ASUS P3V4X, it install perfectly. I then transfer the hdd to P4PE, "Inaccessible boot device". WHAT CAN I DO NOW?

Finally victory!!!! I did two things and am not quite sure which one did the trick, but who cares, it works.

1. Go into device manager and update all drivers thru Microsoft update or the OEM website.
2. Follow the instructions in Microsoft Knowledgebase article 271965.

Worked for me. :)
