W2k aspi manager problem

I have a 4x cdrw and it's worked fine with nero (for burning cds), the problem is that I can't use any other burning software, i get aspi manager errors. I tried to install windvd (also have a 6x toshiba dvd) and it gives me the same error. I downloaded aspi manager v4.60 from adaptec and no luck, in fact w2k crapped out on me and I had boot from last known good profile.. please help me out if you've run across this before

Do you have any Adaptec products installed? The reasons I ask is Adaptec's ASPI Manager will not installed during the installation procedure where they check to see if you have Adaptec SCSI cards installed. You need to trick ASPI manager into thinking there's an Adaptec card installed by adding an Adaptec cards driver in Control Panel, run the ASPI manager, and when done then just uninstalled the driver.
