I have w2k advanced server running my website. When I bought the server software, it came with 10 client access licences. I understand that this is how many people can access the server concurrently on a network. However, I thought that the 10 CAL did not apply to internet users connecting to my server's website. For example, in the IIS setup, it says that there are unlimited connections versus only 10 connection allowed under win95, win98, win NT, and w2k pro. But today when I checked the server, it said that the amount of connections neared the maximum allowed for my server which is 10. There are no computers connecting to the server on a network so the only way to connect to my server is through the internet.
My question plain and simple. Do 10 CAL refer to internet connections as well as LAN connections? If my website gets 1000 concurrent connections (I keep on hoping 😉), do I have to buy 1000 client licences?
Thanks for the help!
