Question W10 Pro "remembering" disconnected display

Hello friends,

I have a triple monitor setup running Windows 10 Pro

Sometimes I like to play games on my big Sony 55 inch TV. To do this I need to disconnect the HDMI from my center monitor and hook it to the TV. Once done I disconnect the TV and reconnect the monitor.

However when I return to the triple monitor setup the center monitor comes on but stays blank. The outer 2 monitors show the desktop. It appears that W10 still thinks the TV is connected. I have to use the Winkey + arrow trick to bring the image back to the center monitor.

Why does Windows still treat the TV as connected when its not? Any fix for this?

Thanks 🙂
