w00t w00t! P3 600@1.002 Ghz and SETI bench!!

After having putzed around with my Duron 700 trying to get it to a gig (it's at 954 as of today...), I decided to go back to my P3 600E @800 and give it a what-the-hell shot in the arm after having run 5 months like that stable.

Got it up to 1002 Mhz running on a 167 Mhz FSB and 1.80V... :Q

The Kingmax PC150 TinyBGA RAM in it was set for CAS 3-3-3 to get it stable at that FSB. Mobo is an Abit BE6-2 rev.2. HS/fan is a GlobalWin VGS08H w/arctic silver.

It just finished the TLC v3.03 SETI benchmark WU with the CLI run in WINE on Red Hat 6.2 in 6.10 hrs!!!

It previously did the same bench as a P3 600@800 w/CAS 3 Mushkin in 7:28hrs. When I put the stick of Kingmax in, that knocked 20 minutes off the time to get it to around 7 hrs.

Now all I need is some CAS 2 that will run CAS 2 at 167 FSB... 😉

Whoda thunk it?
(/me hopes this baby stays stable! 😀)

<UTVOICE>IMPRESSIVE!!</UTVOICE> Very nice OC there poof 😎

I have no reference to compare that WU time with since I've never tried the TLC benchmark WU, but a 1:18 decrease in time is VERY nice!! 🙂

Keep'em comin'

Very nice OC !!! 🙂 😎

My C600 at home runs at 900MHz with standard cooling (Cooler master DP5-5H51). I have to push it at 1.8V to run stable on my BH6. I'm happy with this and I wont try to push it higher.
My Duron runs now at 800 at 1.6V, not stable at 900. I think I'll have to push the voltage a little to reach 900.

BTW, bravo ! 😀

Sukhoi: that's the very first thing I did... replace the AGP card (that would have been running at 111 Mhz :Q) with the identical PCI version of it (running at ~41Mhz).

Twoface: At some point, I need to see what the keyrate is on this baby! Although the AMDs do better at RC5 (my Duron is cracking at 3.35MKey/s right now) and P3s at SETI.

Polo: That's a nice OC of a celly! 😀 And yeah... give that Duron some juice!!!!!

I'm procrastinating taking that FOP off the Duron so I can re-do the bridges. Can't seem to get higher than a 9 multiplier... 🙁

I never in my life expected the P3 600 to get to a gig before the Duron 700! And this P3 is a Costa Rica slot 1 cb0 stepping (SL43E). Alot of people pooh pooh the Costa Ricas but obviously this one was a sweet CPU!

🙂

Hey Poof ,awesome overclock :Q,BTW I think it would be VERY interesting to see what WU time you gwt with v3.0 CLi ,that's really gonna rock!🙂

Well it did a 0.862 angle range overnite with the 3.0 CLI in 3:27hrs... 😀

I'm still fussing with it though. It's still on the iffy side of being stable.

I upped the voltage to 1.85V (frying! 😉)

Poof, all I can say is WOW! 😀

I had a Costa Rica Cely300A that was at 464 for over a year, never could get it past post at 525 though. 🙂

Poof: A 67% Overclock! Impressive!! 🙂😀

I am please when I can get 33% on a PIII CU and 50% on a Celly2.

I am heading to a computer show this weekend and will looking for a Cel2-667 to try at 1 GHz. (cC0 stepping)

Well last nite, since it was still a bit flaky, I upped the Vcore to 1.90V! :Q That oughta burn it in real good...😉

And I'm still trying to get the damn Duron 700 to a gig... 🙁

At least I got the 9.5 multiplier now after re-doing the bridges... Just gotta let the arctic silver melt into the HS once again before I try to go further (won't POST at 10 x 100 and is flaky at 9.5 x 100). Interestingly, it's fine at 9 x 105...

This could be related to an issue that I've seen mentioned from posters on the CPU forum about the MSI's sensitivity to voltages... 😕

Oh well - I'm actually cracking on that P3@1Gig now just to see... And boy did I prove that the keyrate on the P3s isn't as good as the AMDs! :Q I'm only getting something like 2.8Mkeys/sec for the gig P3 (If I can remember correctly), whereas on the Duron @945, I was getting 3.3MKeys/sec...

Poof
I hope you've got good cooling for that 1.9v!:Q

Insane puppy

Go for it 😉 ,I once borrowed a friends PIII 700 ,I had it running at 882 MHz with the std retail hsf & std voltage🙂

Well it ran @800 (133 FSB) at default 1.65V since this past August (with me fraggin' on it too), so it's only now getting a big jolt! 😉

Well Poof I ordered a 256mb stick of that ram you're running I hope mine is as good as yours.😀

BTW will it run at Cas2 & if so how fast at Cas2?🙂

blade_47, the PC150 stick runs CAS 2 at 133 easily. I had it running like that for a couple weeks before I started OCing the P3 further. It's not doing it at 167... 😉, but I bet it would up to 150 though. 😀

That's good to hear Poof.🙂

My mobo only goes up to 153/148/143 & I'm hoping to hit one of them. Cas 2 would be very nice for seti on one of those fsb speeds.😀

Oh yeah! At 133 FSB, the difference between the Mushkin PC100 CAS3 @CAS3 and the Kingmax PC150 CAS3 @CAS2, was like 20 minutes!!! (that's with the 3.0 CLI).

😀
