yup

That's interesting, my 6800GS has a six pin connector rather than the single molex of the 6800GT...wonder why that is?

Depends on if the 6800GT in question was AGP or PCI-e. AGP had molex, PCI-e naturally got the new PCI-e connector. Nowadays, almost all cards just use the PCI-e connector and optionally chuck in a PCI-e to molex lead in case you have an old PSU.

Those are good temps, my eVGA 6800GS AGP (Nv40 I think? The original AGP one) unlocked to 16 pipelines at 400/1100 idles at 45-50 and peaks at 80C after a few hours of gaming.

My Leadtek 6800GT was bought very early on and it idles 42C and peak 55C (rare for it to get all the way to 55 though)

Yes, the entire heatsink is copper on those cards and there is a lot of it too. Only the 7900GTX and 512mb 7800GTX's have a better heatsink IMO.

In terms of the amount of heat the x1900/x1950xt hsfs deal with i'd say they would be at the very least as good as those coolers, more than likely much better, at heat dissipation, plus you get the added bonus of all that hot air going out of your case ;)

Possibly, but I never found the 6800GT to heat my case up significantly (I do have good ventilation in place though) and who wants to listen to a dustbuster, be it from ATi (x19xx) or nvidia (nv30)? The leadtek & 7900GTX heatsinks are excellent mainly because they are so quiet while still being incredibly efficient.

The same can be said about the new HSF's for the X1950XTX's. However, they come at a hefty price, especially when you can get one of those smokin 7900GTO's for $250! I almost want to get two of those instead of tossing around the idea of an X1950XTX CF. But, next gen hardware is sooooooooooo close..............it's soooooooo aggravating.

With coolers so big like that, I thik the cards should have like support runners or brackets that run along the top or soemthing to keep the card from bowing over time.

Jebus wept. That is friggin ridic. I always say a shoddy PSU should simply commit suicide but murder-suicide is beyond the pale. Those Antec weasels better pay for all the damage. :disgust:

Now get some good drivers. I know how much you hate the 90's series so I made this just for you since you can't get them off of the homepage anymore.

XG 84.37.v2

They are by far the best 80's series driver ever, EVER. That driver marks the last in a great line of drivers. The 84.20 started it, that moved to 84.21, then 84.22, then the 37.

:) have fun with it.

BTW, can you unlock it using RivaTuner?

They used to sell Gainward here in the US, but for some reason that I do not know of they were discontinued for sale in this country.

Yeah i'm pretty unhappy about it :(

@Wizboy: cheers for that mate

No unlocking for me, it's native PCI-E NV42 with a bridge chip, but the upside is that i get screaming stock clocks, 450/1200 against the AGP reference of 350/1000 and the PCI-E reference was 425/1000 (which already runs head to head with a 6800GT) :D

Should have plenty of overclocking headroom too ;)

Awesome :)

The 6800GS PCIe that I used ran 525/1300 with the auto detect (and 3 loops of the 3d version of 3dM05), I would think that you can at least hope for that :D
