I guess my yearly evaluation was positive since that's what CDC bases raises (or lack therof) on. Yay me!

At the first of the year I received a 5% raise to compensate for a 100% increase in duties and responsibilities....

I have the opposite situation; I get a raise around this time of year but have to wait until April-ish for my meager "bonus".
Thank you! It's nothing earth-shattering, but a little extra dosh is always nice, especially when you have a money pit....er....house to work on every weekend.
Somebody I know really well works for CDC in their IT department. From what I understand, one just has to show up, to have "excellent" scores on the evaluation.

Congrats on just HAVING a job right now, let alone getting more to do it today then you were paod last week.
It depends. You can phone in your work and you'll get an "acceptable" eval (and only a COLA) or you actually do some work and get the COLA plus an actual GS bump. It's actually fairly difficult to get an "excellent" rating as it requires a written explanation by your supervisor as to why you deserve this rating and review by your branch chief (or similar) to put the GS bump through.

Well, naturally, I went a bit overboard and exagerrated. I'm just really jealous that I refused to even consider a job there, and took one in a private company, which is no more. And I could have had a safe, well paying, considering the times, job, where one has to do very little actual work, from what I have seen, that is all.

Mmmmm.....Benelli.
I will as soon as I have somewhere to keep the damn thing. My house's garage was converted to a den by the previous owners. Nice to have the extra space, but kind of a pain with regard to keeping stuff like motorcycles.
