w00t! Just got a new cell phone! (LG-TM510)

My family's cell phones (and truthfully our service plans) were getting out of date so we decided to make a trip down to the Verizon Wireless store this morning. The power was turned off in the dorm (see other post) so I had a good chance to come home for awhile.

My dad and I both ended up with an LG-TM510 - I can't do without a flip phone and I love the whole external LCD thing (I came from a Motorola StarTAC, and while I still love the phone, it's not too up-to-date anymore.

My mom got a Kyocera 2235 (she just keeps her phone in her purse mostly so it's not necessary for her to have a flip phone.

The rate plan is the coolest thing, though - here's the deal:

Verizon Wireless America's Choice Family Share Plan
400 shared daytime minutes (for the three of us now, but when my sister joins in the plan in a month it will be for 4 of us).
Unlimited nights and weekends (beginning at 9:01 p.m. and ending at 5:59 a.m. M-F, and ending at 11:59 p.m. Sunday night).
250 Verizon to Verizon minutes for each of us
$110/mo for three lines, but it will soon be $130/mo for four lines when my sister joins next month.

So...did we get a good deal? Personally, I think so but I'd like your comments too.

I thought most Family Plans are upwards of 1000 shared minutes?

I have the $29.99 mo with T-Mobile -> 200 Anytime, Unlimited Weekends, 300 SMS, 1 MB Data Transfer.

Many family plans do have >1000 min but my family (at least my parents) are not heavy cell phone talkers. Plus, at college I do most of my calling at night or on the weekends, and if I want to call my parents on their cell phones, the 250 mobile-to-mobile minutes take care of that.

i'm like you, i like the flip phones way more than the regular cell phones.

Yeah, definitely - and I love that I can see who I'm calling before I open the phone to answer. I just couldn't see spending $299 for a Motorola V60 though (the LG that I got was $99).

I work for my school's Department of Public Safety and do a lot of vehicle patrol, so it's nice to be able to clip my phone on my belt and forget about it and not worry about buttons being pushed. Plus, it just looks cooler to flip open your phone :)

That's so-so.
We get 600 minutes peak
2550 off peak (8pm to 6am Mon - Fri, and 8pm Friday to 6am Monday)
500 Sprint PCS to PCS minutes

We have 4 phones and we pay $120 a month.
My father and sister have the Samsung N200, my wife has the Samsung SCH-3500, and I have my nifty Kyocera QCP6035 Palm phone.

The 600 mins peak isn't a lot but we never come close to it especially with the pcs to pcs minutes.

Yeah, Mobile to Mobile minutes rock. Before I upgraded to the V60 and changed my entire plan and number, I had a 3390 with the Ping Pong plan with only 100 anytime and 500 Weekend @ $24.99 + $5.00 for 500 Mobile to Mobile minutes. I was using about 20-40 anytime and over 200 of my Mobile to Mobile.
