I finally got pissed off enough to take the 60mm screamer off my heatsink.

I strapped on a 80mm. (kinda ghetto rigged, but what can you do..)

its soooo quiet! I can actually hear my hardrive now.

:D:):D:)

Facing the same type of operation sometime before my wife is due (Feb. 15).
Damn thing echoes against the wall that adjoins what will become the baby's room.

Mrs. Tallgeese's words:
"EITHER THAT NOISE GOES AWAY, OR THE WHOLE MACHINE GOES AWAY"

As always...

Mrs. Tallgeese = BADASS

Replaced mine over the summer. Had an old thermoengine heatsink on there w/ a 60mm Delta screamer, but now I've got a Thermalright AX-7 w/ a Panaflo, and it keeps it cool, and doesn't whine anymore :D

Hehe, I did something similar a few months ago. Replaced my old aluminum Vantec FCE-62540D (wow, only $6 now, was $22 when I got it..) and a noisy 60mm 7000rpm Delta with a Thermalright AX-7 and a 80mm YS Tech with speed control. Much quieter and it cools far better too. :D
