47 in a 25, but he only cited me for 44 thankfully (over 20 is reckless)

how will this affect my insurance? anyone know? if i don't switch insurance companies, and don't lose any points on my license, will they still find out?

was driving home from about an hour out and got pulled over about 1/10 mile from my driveway :(

go to court, you might get it dropped. if not, they'll give you the option of driving school-- which would drop it.

insurance shouldnt really be effected anyways though.

What state we talking about?
Most states will let you take driving school and avoid the ticket from going onto your insurance, and your DMV record.

<< Take driving class and that will usually negate the ticket. >>

There's your answer.

:)

Then avoid tickets for the next 6 months or so & all is well.

defenitely go to court, I just went this past week and the prosecutor offered me no points without me even asking. So basically I got away with 4 points and only a 200 dollar court cost. Good Luck

Ask for probation before judgement. With your good record the judge should let you off scott free (plus a few bucks for court fees)

<< is that something to 'w00t' about? >>

i was being sarcastic :p

I'm in virginia....am i gonna get points taken off just for 1 speeding ticket?

if i just pay the fine and move along, wouldn't that be enough?

how does court work by the way? do you see a prosecutor first, and then see a judge? i really have NO argument here, i just plain got caught.

Well not sure where you live and how the laws are in your area but here we have a thing called "Guilty with an explanation" . Many of our fine citizens that get tagged appear in court and use this. They are simply saying yes, I was speeding but........................and then lay out some kind of story. Generaly we see the courts go easier on them and from time to time completly drop the tag.

They ALWAYS find out. I got a ticket for doing 40 in a 35 (in a construction zone)... went to court.. the charges were dropped to failing to yield to a stop sign.... fine of $100 and 2 point on the license (DA said it could have been 4 points and $500 for any speeding in a construction zone).... and somehow the insurance company found out. I guess anything that goes on your license HAS to b reported. and i guess any driving infraction goes on your license record.

Used to have to take my guys to court in NC. There they have what is called a "Prayer for Judgement" which is used in cases like yours (no prior tickets or none in a long time). You simply say "I request a prayer for judgement" and the judge says "pay court costs and leave and it never happened". Where I was stationed, they actually have a guy come in before the court day starts to start processing the requests and most folks are gone before the judge ever shows up. Maybe the "probation before judgement" thing mentioned above is the same thing. Ya'll are both Virginia folks, so maybe there's your real answer.

You could say that there is a prosecutor there. Maybe it would be like an assistant D.A.'s assistant or something and he just reads the charge.

My guys weren't there for speeding. They were there for DUIs so we would be there the whole day. It can all be pretty entertaining.
