w00t! Free monitor

Wow, if I had a 17" crt monitor I'd end up having to throw it out. Don't think anyone buys them anymore.

Woot!

Freejack2: People still use them even if they don't sell on ebay. Personally, I have a backup gaming computer on a 17" monitor for LAN parties 😛

I can top that, $7 for a broken 22" monitor that I successfully RMAed.

:Q

How'd you do that?

too bad that after you paid for the shipping it was just like buying it all over again hahaha

I still have a 17'' on my main comp that I am using now. I can't justify spending $3-400 when there is nothing wrong with this one. I imagine I will finally have to pick upa LCD sometime this year, when my wife inherits this pc.

LOL! Pretty close. I had my 7-year-old with me and told him to grab the VGA cable (no power cable but no prob there) and I bragged about it to my neighbor on the way home.

The house is obviously uninhabited. They moved out and were boorish enough to leave a pile of their junk out mixed in with their recyling.

There was a note to the owner/renter that they would be charged by the neighborhood association if they didn't clean up.

Is it still bright? Our current CRT is really showing it's age in the brightness/vibrancy department

Oh and to answer why, I have 10 systems that range from obsolete to VERY obsolete (K6-III OC'ed to a whopping 500MHz) so it's always nice to have an extra monitor so I can muck about.

P.S. Go USC! (8 seconds left in 1st half)

Sony CPD G220R. Seriously one of the best 17" CRT's ever made. 1280x960@75Hz, it looks BEAUTIFUL, and i only paid $50 for it like 3 years ago....

PSSH, I threw out my 20" Trinitron. I was tired of it making my desk sag. I can't stand CRT's anymore. LCD FTW!

Top rated doesn't mean it's the best in terms of quality, it just means it's the best bang for the buck. If you check the details on that site, it shows that the CTX was a really good "budget" monitor. So you got a few cheap monitors, not some top of the line 17 inchers. Sorry to burst your bubble. 😛

Yeah I know It's pretty weak

I am kind of joking at all the crowing and puffing out of my chest.

Truth is I got a mediocre 17" monitor for free.

Thanks for sharing my success guys, here's to finding free stuff!
