Have you played it yet? I started to download it before work this AM, but it'll be 1:00 before I can get back to even install it. Hopefully 30 min is enough to get my feet wet :)

(There's more mirrors listed in my thread in software, shameless plug) :D

Yeah, its fully stand alone, works really well.

I wish there was voice support like the new xbox live game, that'd make things easier. Hey, its free though, so I'll take whatever they give me :D

There's a new class system, you earn experience points for doing stuff (killing people is worth like 2 pts). The points are rewarded based on your actions as a class member. If you're a field ops guy and you keep supplying people with ammo, your rank wll increase quickly. If you're a good medic and keep supplying people, as an engineer you repair/build things, you'll level up quickly. With increased rank, you also get increased "levels" of things like battle sense, light weapons handling, etc. When your "battle sense" reaches level 1, you get binoculars for example. Also as you level up, class specific tasks (laying dynomite, calling in air strikes, etc) become faster. As a field op, you can call airstrikes with your binoculars. At first, you can only call one once your action bar is full. After you level up, you can call two with a full action bar, and it fills up a little faster.

I should probably explain the action bar. Its this little bar in the lower right corner of your screen. When it's full, you can preform class specific tasks like laying dynomite (engineer), dropping ammo/medpacks (field ops/medic). Each of those tasks reduces the bar, so it's a while before you can preform them again. This works really well, you don't have people spamming areas with airstrikes this way.

The balance is pretty good. Full punkbuster support, which is nice. If you're up against an organized team and your team is scattered, you're going to get steamrolled. Two nights ago on the test map, my axis team had pushed up to the allied spawn point and was fragging the entire team within 2-3 seconds of their spawning. The teams were even, they just weren't working together.

Edit: Yeah, link away, I don't mind :)
