I sort of doubt that this was intended to be a $100m+ blockbuster. The budget was very small, and it made over 1/3 of it back in opening weekend.

That doesn't include :

The rest of the first-run theater weeks (probably finish in the 25m range, the budget for the film)

The $1/value theater weeks

The rental period

DVD/Blu-Ray sales

Licensing to HBO/etc

So, this will probably end up making $50-$60m, doubling the cost of production.

I know two couples who saw it. The radical lefties thought it was OK but boring, a typical TV biopic done on the big screen. They were disappointed it didn't go further into the Bush presidency and pulled too many punches.

The righties (fanatical Rush L./Fox News fans) thought it was the worst movie ever, a hatchet job. I think they were shocked that someone would bring up W's youthful misdeeds.
