I am going to scream! So I just updated everything and ran AdAware, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Spyware blaster. Everything is good. Asks me to restart, and I do. Guess what's BACK?!!?! THE SPYWARE! I am so damned pissed...this stuff is getting out of control! During the typing of this message I have been interrupted four times by spyware popping up and it just taking away focus from this window. I can't take this anymore!! Any ideas, ANYONE?!

Thanks,
A vey pissed Dan

1) use something other than IE.
2) find the darn program that is installed and reinstalls itself after your programs ran
3) format, and try again 😉

1) Use Mozilla or firerof ( use google for ,links)
2) USe a firewall like zone alarm
3) start thinking about linux. Visit the OS forum.

Sounds bad. Better just give your computer to me and buy a new one.

Or format and reinstall Windows. Either way will work. 😉

Spybot and AdAware aren't perfect. Just keep updating them and trying again...

Must be something new, cause I have the same problem with browser hijack...
My uncle's computer got infected with some nasty horseshit cause his younger naphew was browsing for porn..
Now, I can't get rid of it, even after using AAW, SpyBot, and Hijack this...
:Q

You know guys. IE isn't really that prone to attacks if you keep your system updated. I don't think I have ever had IE in the last 2 years allow spyware to install itself without my permission. Although IE does have a lot of holes, they are usually patched before they are widely exploited. Anyway, usually the people that complain to me that they have tons of spyware and IE allowed this to happen are the people who have pirated copies of Windows that they have never updated. Simple as that. Update Windows and everything will work fine.

Most hijacks I've encountered that were not fixed by Spybot or Ad-Aware could be fixed by a little manual registry editing. No biggie.

I'm a full-time IE user and don't get hit by viruses or spyware. You just have to keep up with the patches and virus defs... which really isn't all that hard to do if you're on a computer everyday anyway.

there are also installers that save in C: and i even ahve to go to the unistall menu i control panel to delete some stuff there to.

Like you, I use IE. I do have firefox but it distorts a lot of stuff so I still use IE 80% of the time. I don't know how people claim it to be IE's fault. Hell you can even be a little dated as far as the patches go and still have no problems. It is 99.9% the users fault. Wouldnt believe how many people click on "yes" to a popup.

Get the system cleaned up and keep it off the net for a few days. You may not be getting everyting the first time through.

Also, make sure that she is using a firewall.

Educate her on safe surfing.
