I just got my Guillemot GeForce2 MX board and it has 7ns ram on it instead of the 5.5ns that they are posting on their website. Can you say "false advertisement"? Anyone else get screwed like this? I'm thinking if enough of us complain that we'll get the boards that we paid for. I paid extra for this board because I believed that the 5.5ns ram was worth the extra $$. I'm sure that you can tell that I feel totally ripped off. I'll be bitchin on Monday for sure.
Let me know if you got the same shaft that I did

I believe I read in the video forum that if you get the OEM version of the hercules card its 7ns ram but if you get the retail version its 5.5

I got the retail.. cost me a pretty penny but I made sure I got 5.5 ns ram... you had to see teh clerk's face when I asked to see the pcb to read the ram markings.

I bought the white box version from Micro-pro and even though the ram is marked 7-CT I doubt it is 7ns ram as it is currently clocked at 206 core and 210 memory. Unless it's awefully good 7ns ram it IS 5.5ns. It's kind of a moot point. If it will do 210 and be stable, who cares what it is?

Can't always assume OEM is same as Retail....sometimes its better to pay a liitle more.

get this!! i had to call guillemot for an rma within the 30 day warranty limit. they told me that they wont honor the oem warranty anymore-- only retail purchases will be refunded/exchanged which you can normally do at the place you bought it! techie told me that and i just about hit the roof!

there is no OEM warranty. you have to exchange it with the store. Thats the risk you get for buying oem.

Guillemot has done this before with the 3D Prophet (original GeForce) cards - the OEM/white box cards shipped with slower memory than the retail cards. Only apparent difference is that vendors tended to note that that OEM card had slower memory.
