W/C Gods... Some help please

Hey Zeus

Need some suggestions on a good Pump/Res combo along with a good block. I'm plumbing in this baby so i don't need super high flow. Actually lower flow would be better because it's a TEC setup.

Here's what i've been looking at...

Basic setup. Pump/Res flow's through TEC's, into waterblock and back into res. 🙂

Block :

DD but no backplate which kinda has me mehing.

Res/Pump : Any opinions?

lower flow NEVER = better setup.

Your missing the point and concept of water.

Water picks up heat and then dumps it at the exchanger.

If its TEC, the TEC's move the heat over to the other side.

More FLOW = MORE PASSES
MORE PASSES = BETTER TRANSFER

Why? Because water can only pick up X units of heat each mol.
As more mol collectively pick up heat, thats when the water temp rises.

So you want as little variance on the water temps as possible for more performance.

Dont play with TEC's on water unless you know what your doing.
Coolit DOES NOT MAKE GOOD UNITS.

There great for moderate people, but a high end water will give even the boreas a hard stomping.
Lower end TEC units have a hard time keeping up with air.

This is my TEC unit... u see the difference?

No that's an Eliminator. Domino doesn't have TEC's

OK, Eliminator, the unit you pictured has a pump onboard. As Aigo was saying Coolit sucks, those that do actually work are noisy as hell and not likely to last long if you can tolerate the noise. A good W/C loop will last for years and can be upgraded.

Look around XS if you want to play with tecs, alot of good info there. Awhile back I also got the tec bug and played around a little but for reasons beyond my control I was side tracked and haven't got back to it yet. Here is the thread if your interested.

Edit : After i'm finished installing 7 i'll go more in depth

no.. please setup at least a mid tier water system.

I posted feedback on your thread.

Coolit = TOY no matter how far you go, unless you do a dual boreas system.

Aig,

Coolit SUCKS for Quad core's. It's been proven and i've seen the results with my own eyes. My old eliminator couldn't cool my 920 for SHIT but the clarkdale isn't a 920 and should pull ambient temps at 4.8ghz. I'll have a full writeup after its installed on thursday 🙂

Just for example :

My 920 on average at 4.2Ghz would put out 150W of heat. The Clarkdake at 4.9Ghz puts out 73W of heat. HUGE difference. God i can't wait for the 32nm Quad's. Coolit's big issue was always a piece of shit water block and horrible pump. They didn't even fix those with the freezone elite. It still has the terrible block and pump but IMO offering a barebones version where you can buy your own block and pump would be ideal to the overclocker like myself. I picked up a barebones Eliminator for 50 dollars direct from coolit and should fit in perfectly for my plans.

Eliminator : 50
Block : 60
Res/Pump : 60
Tubing : 5

Total $175

Edit : I'm not looking for below ambient temps. That would cause a whole bunch of headaches i don't want nor need. What i'm looking for is at or slightly above ambient temps. If it's 18C in my room i want the processor at 20-25C at idle at 4.8Ghz+. 🙂

This was my old Eliminator on an P2 X3 720. Notice the temps? 100CFM Fan upgrade and on High. It dominates Dual and Tri's.

Keep us posted, sounds like you have a plan. Good luck!

edit- In response to your query about pumps, my thought would be to use the 355, w/ the stock top, it has 3/8" barbs that you might be able to stretch 1/4 over. It has a good flow rate and head.

ROFL who do you think started it. ()🙂

That and the demand for silver in our system.. 😱

Meh... idle...
the thing tho is the coolit uses power 24/7.
The TEC's can never be shut off...

You could get away with mid tier water, and still pull in close.
And you could recycle the bulk of your mid tier on your next system.

The rad + pump -> all can go onto the next system. 100% compatible!!!

The cpu block and gpu block is dependant on what blocks you bought.

Turkey! 😉

With a temp control as Uncle Jimbo spoke of the tecs could be cycled off and on with the water temp. I did get the parts to finish that rig I posted about, All I need is ambition to play with it and finish that thread.

Very true. Meh.. We'll see. I already paid for the damn thing and it'll be here today so if it sucks i'll just sell it. 🙂 i Plan on doing a full water setup including the 5770's i plan on having in Xfire within a few weeks time.

Another thing is the damn fittings. Coolit tells me they're 1/4 ID but they honestly look like 3/8 ID.
