So this thing finally came out. but wait

its 250 bucks no rebate

It uses your internet connection

and other VZW customers can use it...

and it uses your Minutes!

In my house we have been having horrible connection issues recently.

But, They still sell the 2G version for 99 bucks.

I do have wifi in my house and the two phones that would use 3g have wifi.

But the 2g version only handles 3 calls at a time. We have four phones.

The new one does 6 and has 7500 sq/ft range vs the old one with 5000 sq/ft

This device will be placed pretty much on one side of our house next to a window so we will get half of that rage. Eh..

A little pricey, but if you're the type with no home phone, and your house is in a coverage dead spot, it might be worth it.

Why do they even bother incorporating 3G anyway? The only reason you'd ever need 3G at home is if you're using an app that doesn't work over WiFi, and those only exist because of corporate bullshit anyway.

I don't disagree with asking customers to pay for network extenders, but since they use your own internet connection you shouldn't have to pay a monthly fee and you DEFINITELY shouldn't have it use your minutes/data allowance. That's just outrageous.

I dont really care for the 3g any more, its just the 3g rated model has farther range and can handle more then 3 phones.

This will be sitting on the north side of my house by the window, Only place it can sit and get GPS signal.

I guess if you turn on wifi it won't use the 3G anyway. And maybe it could be good for those rare phones that have 3g but not wifi.

Yea it's really ridiculous that you still don't even use their network but they treat it as such. It seems that if Verizon or AT&T does something first, the other will follow with exactly the same thing since AT&T does this crap already.
