With the new commercials and what not coming out for 4G Verizon service "coming Dec. 2010" does that mean we can expect some 4G phones to be released soon?

I'll be getting a new phone soon and I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to wait or not.

The 4G LTE USB Modem cards will probably be released in December and rumors are currently pegged for a January release of an LTE handset. I'm guessing the phone(s?) will be announced at CES since Verizons CEO is doing the opening keynote. There have been leaks/spy shots of an Incredible HD phone that's rumored to have 4G. engadget link

I'm anxiously waiting for the new phones to be released. Hopefully we see something in January 2011.

I'm hearing March for handsets, Dec/Jan for USB modems. Might see an announcement in December or January for the phones though.

Dang, March? I just bought an older blackberry to tide me over thinking January the new LTE stuff was coming out.

Supposedly the T2 that is coming is LTE, and it was actually rumored to be coming December, but speculation has it that it has possibly been pushed back to maybe January.

I tried to make that sentence as ambiguous as possible, so that you wouldn't get your hopes up.

They are already advertising that LTE is coming in December 2010 on their site. I would expect that the modem would at least launch before Christmas.

They may get announced in January but there is no way there is one coming out in January. Big things like that get announced before they come out so don't expect a Verizon LTE phone until March at least.

this is why nobody should go out and get a verizon phone for a few months. lte is almost here. i was walking by the verizon store in downtown sf yesterday and they even have huge posters in the windows advertising that 4g will be here soon, i think the posters even said by the end of the year. verizon doesnt usually make announcements until products are about to be available. smartphones are going to get a speed upgrade soon as well

I was thinking just the opposite. It will be 18-24 months before their 4G LTE has decent penetration, so upgrading now will give Verizon a chance to implement and tech a chance to advance by the time my "new every two" comes up.

Looks like Detroit isn't on the list, but I'm sure it will get here eventually. I'm just waiting for Tegra 2 for the most part.

yeah i guess it depends on where you live. im in san francisco and it is on the verizon list for this december. if someone is in a suburb or in the country it probably will be a year or two. smartphones are still due for a speed upgrade in the next few months
