Hello everyone
I have a question please. I read about a fix for Windows 98 for, as the instructions explained, to help compleatly load from the OS CD all the VXD software. It explained that sometimes Windows while installing the OS did not complete the whole task. The name of this fix is VXD-Fix and it came as a ZIP, after oppening the ZIP I had 2 files a read me and the program to be used with the Win 98 OS CD. Now I do have some of the problems that are described like a BSOD at shut down, allways a VXD problem, hit any key and of course it then shuts down. So my question is I have Win 98 SE is this VXD fix for that OS? Also has anyone tried this. or even heard of it ? I downloaded it from Virtual Dr.
Below is the read me file that came with the download. Believe me after downloading the Intel drivers from the Micro Soft Update site, and that was an easy fix, I will be asking a lot more questions before downloading anything from anywhere again.
Thank you, Marturo
VXD Fix file for Windows 98
Requirements: Windows98 install CD
**note:this file will not work with Windows98 install cab
files on your hard drive. It requires your Windows98 install CD.
How do you use this file?
1) Extract the file to your hard drive.
2) Put your Windows CD in your CD Rom drive.
3) Then execute the VXD file, it will ask you which drive letter
represents your CD Rom drive... just follow the prompts.
4) It will seek out your CD Rom drive, take the required files
from the Install CD and rebuild your VMM32.DLL file...
and will then update your Windows installation.
Before using this update Marturo find out first if it is ment to be used with windows 98 SE.
Important do not forget to do this as these change the VXD caretristics of how windows uses
the VXD files in your machine Date 2/22/02 note to self.
