VxD Error, Win 98 (first edition), and Turtle Beach Santa Cruz....

Hiya Folks...

Since I received no assistance (only one response with the same problem) in the Operating System forum, I'll try here.

I have a problem with VxD errors with the TB Santa Cruz card when I have EAX enabled in Counterstrike. It only occurs when EAX is enabled, and there's a map switch. Until the map switch, everything works fine. The switch occurs, and the BSOD occurs. With EAX disabled, and A3D enabled, there's no problems whatsoever, but the sound is not as good as when EAX is enabled.

The error is something like 0028:00700465 in VxD and 0028:C15EEF0 in VxD. Also mentioned is CRLDS3D (01) + 0000E540...

I also receive the same type error in n3....

Any help as to how to fix this would be greatly appreciated...

Dave

ok, i don't have a similar setup but the standard response to this situation is as follows:
did you make any changes before this happened that might have caused it (i.e. driver updates, new hardware, etc...)?

if not, did you try to re-install the drivers and/or get the latest drivers?

this seems like a driver problem, but i'm not sure about the specifics of it. also, do you have win98SE available to you? i'm not sure if it will help with this problem but i think there were a lot of bug fixes that warranted the release of a "second edition"

Only started happening since I installed the TB Santa Cruz, which I picked up about 2 weeks ago. Prior to that, I was using the onboard sound. Could this be caused by the improper deletion of the onboard drivers??

i had a similar problem when playing rogue spear. i have the aureal sq2500 and when i enable the eax engine and reverb, it always crashes. if i disable it, there's no problem. so i just play the game with a3d. i was thinking the problem was probably due to the fact that I using the beta drivers, but i'll never know because aureal never got to release the final version drivers before being bought out by creative.

That's what I've been doing in CS....however, when it comes to Nascar 3, there is no option for EAX....I run a few laps, and it crashes....

Are you SERIOUS?

EAX is garbage compared to A3D in counter-strike w/ the turble beach...

the only bad thing about A3D w/ the SC in coutner-strike is that u have to jack the volume a bit...

Quite honestly, I get the exact opposite feeling. I find EAX to be better....just my opinion though. That said, the problem still exists...

Are you overclocking your cpu?? up the voltage a little and see if it helps out....
I've gotten VxD errors when OCing and not using enough power to the processor
