VXD EMU10K1 BS error on CPU swap?

I'm upgrading a Abit BX6r2 from a P3-450 to a P3-700/100/256 and when windows starts up, I get VXD bluescreens with the emu10k1, which means it's the sb live... When I put the 450 back in, everything's fine. I have the latest bios update, but I haven't had time to download all the critical updates through windowsupdate or the newest sblive drivers.
Any ideas what the problem might be?

Yes

this is a Creative SBLive driver problem. Go to SB site, download the newest Liveware.

This is a well known problem.

that alone will not solve the problem as you'll need to get an updated driver as well. it's called sblw9xup.exe or similiar.

Liveware3 and/or the newest drivers helped me when I had this problem...it's not a matter of chip speed, but the type of chip. Any coppermine-based CPU will give you this problem...the katmai's will not.

<< I think LW3 did solve the problem. Correct me if I am wrong. >>

no, lw3 which came out at the end of 1999 did not sort out the coppermine problem so creative updated the EMU10K1. VXD with the release of sblw9xup.exe in April 2000!
