I'm in the market for a new gaming monitor coming from an old NEC 1760V and I've narrowed my search down to two Viewsonics: the VX2025WM and the VG2230Wm. The banding and tearing on my NEC has annoyed me and I'm ready to move up in real estate and both of these considerations happen to reflect the strong points of each monitor, one is huge with decent image quality (TN) and the other has great image quality (P-MVA) with less real estate. I'm most tempted to get the TN but I can't commit just yet without some good arguments that you, the community, might be able to put forth for or against each monitor. Please help!

For the record, I'm running a 7900GT with a A64@ 2.6Ghz. May or may not be pertinent.

Thanks!

Ok, any other thoughts? At this point I'll be purchasing the VG2230WM if I don't get any other feedback by tomorrow. Thanks again all.

There's no reason to get the VG2230wm besides the bigger size. The VX2025WM is better in every other way (color, viewing angle, response time despite ratings), so that would be my choice.

Have you seen this comparison review of 20-21 inch monitors on

BeHardware.com ?

The VX2025WM is in there along with the Samsung 215TW

Quality vs price: VX2025WM

Size: Any 22-inch...Choose according to features and price. They are all TN, for better and for worse

Compromise: Samsung 215TW, but lookout for input lag. Still pricey.

What you really want: A 24-inch with a non-TN screen. Will be affordable next fall :clock:
