I originally was going to get the NEC, but then I saw the coating it had first hand (wasn't for me). I had already had a 2005fpw along with a 2007fpw that I got for $150 from my brother who was wanting to get something else. I was happy with that for a while as it had very little banding. Don't get me wrong, it was still there and I could notice it on 3D apps, but it wasn't exactly driving me crazy. The colors were good on it, backlight bleeding was a lot less than my 2005, and did what I wanted it to do.

Then in a local store today I saw a VX2025 displayed. I was impressed with it, and the store was selling it at an awesome price that included a 2-year exchange policy where if I were unhappy with it (dead pixels, bleeding, etc.) I could bring it back to the store and exchange it for a different one that day. I pulled the trigger and brought it home, plugged it in right next to the 2007fpw and WOW:D:thumbsup:. It really did make my eyebrows raise. I thought there wouldn't be much of a difference considering I used this monitor comparison site that xtkinght provided (very cool site by the way) and from what I could tell my using their comparison function on their website, the 2007WFP looked almost better in some cases. I was wrong.

The VX2050 is a solid bang for buck monitor. Fast, great colors, great contrast, and nice angles. However, when putting my desktop to a completely black wallpaper, the backlight bleeding became very prominent. It is actually the worst I've ever seen. Other than that though, the colors and contrast seem to be better than 2007WFP. The Dell is renowned for color banding, and while the ViewSonic beats it in the above mentioned, my particular one seems to have some very minimal banding. It is not by any means to the extent of the 2007WFP, but still there in a minute portion.

I've collected some pics with my new LX-1 to try and portray what I myself see.

I'll try to get some more detailed pics up as soon as I have more time.

On your vx2025wm monitor, do you notice any backlight leaking? I just got the vw2025wm monitor a week ago and one thing that is annoying me is the fact that at the corners of my screen, it seems to be a bit brighter then rest of my screen when I'm displaying a black background. Does your monitor have the same problem?

Since the newer 2007fpw's have now been updated via firmware and pretty much eliminates all banding in desktop mode, would you say that between the vx2025 and a 2007fpw with no banding issues the vx2025 is the better lcd?

One of the main reasons I want to get the dell is because of it's awesome viewing angles, how does the vx compare?

Having all things considered (newest firmware) what monitor would you get if the price of the dell was $370 and the vx2025 was $330?

The ViewSonic VX2025WM. I like its contrast better, I'll try to post some pics that details as to why.

Of the two side by side? If you can, post some pics at different angles for both lcds.
