For a while, I've been wanting to use my VX-4400 to use as a modem for when I travel. Unfortunately, Verizon wanted $65 for their connection software / cable (for the VX-10) and $4.99 for wireless web.
Today, I was in the Verizon store checking out ear buds for use while driving, and I inquired about the possibility of using my phone without buying the kit. The manager said he didn't know of a way, but he empathized that the price of the connection kit was a little high. He did mention that he thought there was a price decrease on it, so he pulled a VX-10 kit and checked it, and it rang up $9.99.
So, I bought the kit, set up the phone as instructed, and then set up my own connection to my ISP (their backdoor modem for DSL subscribers), and voila! I have a connection without spending $65 for the kit and $4.99 a month for their wireless web!
Now, when I'm on trips, I don't have to worry about net withdrawl. Thank you, unlimited nights and weekends!!!
