vw service blows

so takes the car into the dealer every time it needs maintenance done.

normal maintenance schedule on a car includes rotating the tires

vw dealer never bothers rotating the tires

front tires are almost completely worn out

rear tires are almost completely new

so now so has to buy two new tires

wtf is wrong with the vw dealer?

Usually dealers give print outs of the service completed to the vehicle . Did it ever say the tires were rotated? If it does maybe you can get them to pony up the cash for the two new tires.

mark and check the tires when you pick up the car

next time

or try another dealer

good luck on that

Although I think VW's QC blows, I fail to see how your crappy dealer's piss poor service is VW's fault?

My dealer does a great job and takes really good care of me every time I take my brand new VW in for service.... every other week for the past two years. 🙁

vw should take their dealer network to task for bad quality. lexus service isn't great because of the dealer's policies, it's because toyota is on their ass.

anyway, seeing as how they make money on regular maintenance such as tire rotation, i would have expected them to at least offer it

WTF? I blame your SO.

1) Rotating tires is supposed to be a part of the regular scheduled maintenance. Well duh!!! Make sure they do it. Check up on them, mark the tires with chalk before you go in and see if they rotated them. If they didn't, raise hell. She (or you, I don't know) paid for a car that includes a certain service. MAKE SURE THEY DO WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO!!

2) Hell, you shouldn't even need to mark the damn tires to see if they rotated them. All you have to do is look to see if the wheels with the most brake dust around the rim/wheel covers have been moved from the front to the back.

yes, blame people with no idea how a car works. if a dealer were to sell your GF on a headlight fluid change, would you blame your unknowledgable GF or the dealer? i think its the same thing. when you tell the dealer, 'i want all the regular maintenance done,' they should do it without you having to watch over them making sure that they actually did top off all the fluids and put the right oil in it.

First of all, my GF would DEFINITELY call me or her dad before she were to have any work done on her car. So the chances of her getting the headlight fluid changed would be zero.

Seriously, if you are going to take your car in for scheduled maintenance, shouldn't you have some sorta of clue as to what they are going to do instead of just blindly go in and say "OK, just ah heck me in the ass?"

How hard is it to ask, "Sir, what services will be performed on my car today during scheduled maintenance?"

why should you even need to ask? the manual puts tire rotation under scheduled maintenance. if you ask for scheduled maintenance they should look at the maintenance schedule and see, hey, it's time to rotate the tires! and then charge accordingly. or, in the alternative, maybe they did charge accordingly and merely never changed the tires

And what I'm saying is don't assume that they are going to do their job. Be SURE that they are going to do their job. Take the initiative. I think that the general schedule is to have tires rotated every other oil change (if you're on a 3,000-4,000 mile oil change schedule). How hard is it to keep track of that and mention to the service people that your car is due for a tire rotation?

If I take my car in for service, I ask them what they will be doing and I check the printout at the end to make sure that they did what they were supposed to. In fact, I often stick around near the service bay window to watch them doing the deed.

how often should i be getting this "headlight fluid" changed? my shop must be uniformed, they didn't tell me about it

At least every other time you get your blinker fluid changed. Duh.
