I've been told that early GTI's came with Recaro seats, I'd like to see some interior pics to see what these seats look like please

I gathered that they were seats. :D I was just wondering what was special about them. The ones in my car look sort of like those, and they are 8-way power, you can adjust how the sides fit your back, the lumbar, the plane of the seat, and the height. Pretty comfy too, but then again I am coming from a vehicle with bench seats. :D

Well, racing seats are quite simply seats that hold you in better! :) Typically they'll have larger side and bottom bolsters, so that when you're cornering you won't be sliding out of your seat, or bracing yourself against the doorframe. I want some nice Recaros.

Oh btw, a 337 is NOT an early GTI, johneetrash.

Cool - from my understanding, the Recaros in the VW's match the Recaros that were available in my Shelby (mine doesn't have that option) and I cannot locate a set of Shelby Recaros (they have "Shelby" written all over the fabric) so my next best thing is getting plain gray ones, maybe out of a VW... Thanks for the pics guys!

from what i remember about my friend's recaros is that it was black w/ red stitching and "GTI" is stitched on them too.

My friend bought a 337 a few months ago. The seats are SOO much nicer than my stock seats in the Jetta. Much better bolstering and such. Here is a link to some of the pictures.

Other than being inspired by Shelby, not much. They use separate motors (the CSX is an 8V motor, the R/T uses a Lotus designed 16V head). I also own a 92 Daytona R/T as well, which is very similar to the Spirit R/T (same 224HP motor, but better equipped, more luxurious, sportier looking). I'm actually trying to sell it right now :D

FYI: the transit buses and subways (TTC buses and subways) here in Toronto have Recaro seats for the drivers/operators. But they have have very little bolster if any.

If you were in OH instead of Mass, I'd be asking how much you wanted for the Daytona. Probably more than my budget anyway though, and '92s has those stupid mouse belts. (Those mouse belts were just as good an idea as the 85mph speedometer, stupid NHTSA.)

I have a '84 GTI and I believe that they are OEM Recaro's, though they were never badged Recaro like some of the later models. I did buy a Recaro lumbar bladder from a Recaro seat and it fit perfectly in my seat.

The one thing that I wish that my seats had were the height adjusters like on the '79 Scirroco I had. I'm 6'1" and now that I've put on a few pounds (extra padding in the arse area) my head brushes the headliner. Especially since I have the factory sunroof that kills headroom by about 2".

I'll look around for digital pix of my seats, but they look exactly like the photo that stifko posted. My interior is in better shape though. ;) Edit: I don't have a better photo of my seats. My photos just show the front 3rd. They do look exactly like the photo that stifko posted only they are in better condition.

Mouse belts?
I've never heard that before, but they must call them that because they trail along the door like a mouse. I HATED those automatic seat belts. I considered buying a new car about that time and didn't buy one just because of the automatic seat belts.
