Late Tuesday night I noticed a row of various VW's sitting near my office and was thinking that is just a bunch of kids showing off car mods or something. Today I was driving home and saw a VW Golf that looked very nice, even has the round brake lights that I usually think look ugle, but they looked good. It had a big honking CB antenna on top with it's usual swooshed radio ant. Anyway, right after that passed by a VW Jetta, VW Jetta Wagon, VW Bug, VW Bug with a black cover over the top part of the car (Perhaps a convertible model, do they exist?), and about 6 or 7 others all driving in a line. They all had the same CB ant.
I though, MUST BE testing new cars! Fairbanks AK is like the most used winter testing area in the U.S. last I heard... late last year I saw a bunch of the Smart Cars being tested. If I remember correctly, it's a company from Mercendes.
Anyway, being the curious one, I pulled in behind the last one on the highway and off we went. They drove about 10 miles and finally stopped a Texaco and all parked and got out of their cars. Not only do two VW's look weird parked next to each other, but imagine seeing over a dozen trying to pull into a small parking lot at once!!?!?! Yes, it was a clusterf#ck!🙂
I drove up and yelled out my windows "Hey, what are you guy testing? By the way, nice job of being inconspicuous! 🙂" One of them yelled back "Sorry, can't say." then just looked away.
Any idea what they were testing? I did see a couple of them pull upto the diesel pump... maybe new models with diesel engines?
