Except in the description it clearly says it's mid engine and according to porsche.com boxsters are also mid-engined.

Oops! I was looking at and referring to the Concept T. 😱

Boxsters, however, use a 3.2L flat-6 (or "boxer" engine), while the Concept R will have a 3.2L V6 according to the description. Same displacement, same number of pistons, but otherwise 2 very different engines that would not be capable of sharing the same platform or chassis.
