Okay, here's the deal. Why do Vulcans base their entire society on logic when it is clear that logic cannot provide an answer for everything?
What do I mean? Well, the basic idea of using logic is that we assume certain things to be true. These things are called axioms. These are things that cannot be proven as true or false but we usually accept them as true because they seem so obviously true. (BTW, you can also accept things that seem obviously false and still come up with a valid logical system that is useful in the real world which implies that the "false" axiom was actually true for this universe -- non-Euclidean geometry)
Any way, once we decide on a set of axioms we can then go about making statements with these axioms and using the accepted rules of logic, we can prove these statements to be either true or false.
Here is the general gist of some theorems from logic:
1) You can make statements that are contradictory. This is similar to the statement that "everything I say is a lie".
2) For any logical system, you can always make a statement that is unprovable with the accepted rules of logic and axioms.
What this basically means is that we cannot use logic to answer everything. The Vulcans should know this and to base their entire society only on logic is a sign of stupidity. I think Spock "discovered" this in the 1st Star Trek movie when he was out in the desert.
Lastly, I just want to say that Vulcan women are hot....
