Vudu says iPad users can now stream vudu movies to their iPads. Rental or purchase. Only in SD quality and not HD, however (copyright laws). And Disney will not let their movies be included for iPad streaming, so far.
No app needed. Just a vudu account. You can always signup up (free) for an account, then play and test the selections 2-minute preview & trailers.
If you add a device to your free vudu account devices, they give you a free $5.99 account credit (wi-fi tv with the included vudu app, or dvd/bluray player with wi-fi and vudu app). Don't believe that includes iPads for the credit, however.
The BOXEE software for macs and pc's basically allow you do the same, stream vudu to a mac or pc computer. Also only in SD quality. Sounds like vudu iPad streaming is basically the same as using BOXEE computer software with vudu.
Ps. I tried it on my iPad-2. Works!
