Hello,

Maybe kinda useless question, but nonetheless wanted to confirm with the community over here with a wealth of knowledge and experience.

To be short, I have two Vtech 6053 cordless units (used in two different houses), each with a total 3 handsets. Have been using them for around 3 years and were quite satisfied with their performance. I know that with this model of Vtech, you cannot add or register new handset to the base unit. Read reviews at amazon http://www.amazon.com/Vtech-Cordless...ews/B000Q0K14Y

Kinda awkward thing I noted in this unit, is that the base (main) unit is rated at 6V DC 1.0Amp, hence the required power adapter (wall wart as it is affectionately known) is the usual AC-DC 6V, however two extension cradle stands ( for charging the two extra handsets) are rated at AC 6V 300mAMP and hence need an AC-AC wall wart, kinda not so easily available, anyways I have all of them, just wanted to share.

So it happened that one handset registered to 1st base unit got defected, it does not re-charge properly (no matter how long it is left on the charging stand) and the earpiece does not works. I know, I have tried replacing everything possible, the cradle charging stand, the battery, the power adapter (wall wart) and apparently nothing remedies the situation.

All three handsets registered to the 2nd base unit, are not as often used and one of them remain unused and in untouched condition.

So is it possible that I can use the one available handsets from my 2nd base, and get it registered and linked up with my 1st base unit. As far as I know there is no known way to DE-regisrter and RE-register handsets to this Vtech model unlike some other models where codes like *371xxxx# do the trick.

In a desperate attempt I have popped the defected handset open (registered to 1st base - the one I want to replace with a working handset from the 2nd base) to see whats inside. I only have some basic knowledge about electronics, however do have an electronics engineer at my disposal to do the job if applicable. So is there is a possibility that I can replace a part or a component inside the (new 2nd base registered) handset to get it tuned and connected to the first base and hence solve my purpose.

Have a look at the attached pictures, would really appreciate your guidance

Wow..that's a superb grip on the obvious.....maybe I knew that it was mentioned as undoable by the manufacturer.....that's why I wanted to consult and get guidance from the wealth of combined knowledge and skills of the experienced members on the forum....just to know that has anybody ventured with a seemingly difficult task....

So still hopeful for getting some good advice instead of ...clarification of the obvious :)

It used to be that you could place any handset from a different unit on the base and it would sync to the base station's frequency.

But it's probably been about 10 years now since I've dealt with a cordless phone. I think I'd just to buy a new set should be able to get a new one with two extensions for around $50 or so.
