VT8237 southbridge raid question

Does the VT8237 support IDE RAID? My inclination tells me no, but ive been searching the web and cant find anywhere that says yes or no.

the southbridge does support both sata and pata raid (pata is what i think your refering to when you said "ide".... since sata is also ide)

but im not sure if all boards using this southbridge actually have it enabled/available

I should be getting an asus SK8V later today hopefully.. Trying to find this out so i dont have to figure it out with trial and error.

I was referring to the PATA Vs. the SATA connector.. I have a few EIDE maxtor drives..

Well yes and no. It can do raid on the S-ATA drives, but not through the normal P-ATA drive(IDE)

to know exactly what raid options will be available you should download and read the manual

the sk8v also has a promise controller onboard
here is a link where you can download the manual

a quick check of the manual shows that the board does support both sata raid and pata raid... so you should be able to setup a raid with the eide maxtors

by the way im curious... what cpu do you plan on running in the sk8v? opteron? or athlonFX?

I am aware of the promise controller, I was curious to know what the VIA controller supported. Im currently running an Opteron 142 on an SK8N board. The portion of the manual for the SK8V says nothing about the VIA controller supporting PATA raid, so thats why I thought i would ask on the forum.

I'll be selling the SK8N if anybody is interested.
