I have vsync forced in the drivers. These games don't have an in-game vsync option. Do any of you know of a way to edit their config files to force it?

Do you mean you forced it in the driver and it's still not on in the game?

To enable it in UT2004:
1. Run the game, open the console, and type: "preferences" (without quotes)
2. A little "Advanced Options" window will pop up
3. Click "Rendering", then "Direct3D support"
4. Scroll down and change "UseVsync" to True and "UseTripleBuffering" to True
5. You might have to restart the game for changes to take effect.

Painkiller most certainly has a vsync option - "sync every frame" I think it's called.

That was a splendiferous tip that obviously took you some time to compile for me. Thanks! :)
