I have this V3 overclocking util. It can turn off vsync and something else I forget the name of. I am not overclocking the card just yet because I don't have a fan for it. I just want to know what benefit turning off vsyn will have. Will it increase frame rates in games like UT?

Thanks

Yes, helped a ton in quake2, and since then, most games disable it by default, but its always better to disabled it before the game loads

Turning off Vsync increases your framerates but only because your system is no longer capping the framerate peaks (ie maximums). Your minimum framerates will stay the same so your actual gameplay will not change that much.

Turning off Vsync is used for benchmarking purposes but most people have it off all the time anyway. Go ahead and turn it off if you like. The worst that can happen is image tearing, and you can always turn it on if that happens.

Also remember that some games like Quake 3 have a maximum FPS setting so you will need to adjust these as well in order for your Vsync setting to take effect.
