Hi,

I just learned in my trial of Auslogics Disk Defrag Pro ( I am already liking it better than my Perfectdisk, shocking but true), that, at least my go to HDD is set to VSS compatibility.

What are the advantages of this? Why do I need it? I keep system restore turned off.

If I learn no advantages, and I do not need it, how can I disable it? Would I use volume shadow copy in Services?

Thanks!

VSS is the Windows service that allows applications to access files that would otherwise be locked (usually because they're in use).

You don't want to turn it off.

Many thanks. Auslogics just said it might get in the way of their doing their job fabulously. Now my position is, sorry, Aus.....it's staying. :sneaky: Now, I must find out how to use Aus's VSS compatibiliy mode, cause that is what they suggest.

Not to pry, but is yr username re your doggie? He or she looks totally mammalian to me if so.():)

PS, Nevah mind....I found it in Aus, and it is already checked. "Use VSS compatibility mode", I mean.
Thanks again!
