AF (anistropic filtering), not AA.
AF not only helps to reduce aliasing effects on distant textures, but introduces far less blur at extreme angles and preserves much more detail. in essence, it increases texture mapping quality - substantially.
well thank you for the correction from AF > AA ... i will look far more carefully at what i type in future ...
i'll start over ...
i never run with maximum AA ... well, unless i get the HD-XT ... then i will try one of its many modes without performance hit at my res
for what i normally run and what i normally experience in most modern games, the Max AA doesn't look that good for the big frame rate hit it takes
AF has much less of a performance penalty ... yet i still couldn't max it - for new games with the 7800GS ... i *can* with the pro. Hard to really *compare* as i played around for hours in the nvidia CP.
