Thermalright to unleash beastly Silver Arrow SB-E CPU Cooler

This thing is a monster. Should cool like one too. 😵

Wonder how much better it cools compared to a regular Silver Arrow with an LGA2011 bracket (using the same fans)?

I just got one of these not sure how, I thought I was ordering the old one and got the SB-E instead. Really great looking and the big 150mm fan is quite crazy unfortunately I different colour which is a pity as I already have a couple TY140's in my chassis with the blue fins.

Where did you order from?

I'm kind of confused. I'm not sure what the market for this is. Anyone who would be OK with putting in a heatsink that takes a 150mm fan would almost certainly already be running a watercooling rig. It could be cool for someone with one of those open frame cases, if you wanted good cooling but also out there aesthetics.

No

Ok...I have to say, after having read more about it and looked at it a lot more, it is kind of a neat cooler. One thing I can't forgive, though...you've got this beautiful, enormous chromed silver heatsink....and you put hideously ugly puke brown fans on it? What was Thermalright thinking? Black would look much better, and even go for a silver fan or a clear fan that would go well with the glossy silver, but the brown? Looks like an old 1983 component.

They show it mounted on a P6T Deluxe V2 (1366 chipset) along with Corsair XMS memory which is some of the lowest height memory you can get and then talk about some cleverly designed fan clips? The fans are barely clearing the Corsair XMS memory, this wont work for most memory modules on a 2011 board without sliding the fan so far up to clear the memory that it will lose some effectiveness. I couldnt get a Noctua NH-D14 or NH-C14 on my x79 Sabertooth and ended up with an H100.

I am still looking for a good air cooler that will work on the Sabertooth.

Tomorrow, please stay tune for my bench test(will be on the Asus rampage IV extreme) and pictures share here.🙂

I don't know if I like Thermaltake fans but it certainly needs some getting used to. Noctua fans although it is oddly colored, I find it quite nice with their shade of brown and cream color. At least both Thermaltake and Noctua makes fans that actually looks 'serious', try looking at Phantek fans, they look like toys.

Awesome. Test whether this beast is able to fit in a case. 😉

This looks promising for those looking to continue with air cooling on the high end and have taken the proper precautions against possible motherboard damage in case of sudden movement, etc.

This really needs to tested with a heavily overclocked Gulftown at 4.5+ GHz with higher than normal volts. (1.45 min) A few days of Linpack with 22C ambient. Ignore idle temps, load temps is what matters!
