Whenever I sign into the corporate servers via VPN it immediately signs me out of MSN Messenger and signs me into Windows Messenger. Anyone know of a way to stop this from happening?

**Side note: Very irritating how even though I?ve uninstalled Windows Messenger its still on my PC and still launches (when I don?t want it to).

Thanks

Use the messenger for exchange.

It allows both corporate messaging and your personal MSN messaging.

In the absence of this version, exchange can connect to the "windows messenger" version, although it lacks features.

it looks like i'm using their default gateway. properties for tcp/ip are set to obtain ip address and dns automatically. when i view my ip address via dos window it shows both info for local area network and the PPP adapter.

I'd much rather use msn messenger...i like the features. someone else recommended for me to rename the windows messenger .exe so it cant start when my VPN session begins. you know if this will effect anything else or will i run into problems doing that?

thanks

PPP adapter is your dialup modem. Ignore it.

Uncheck the checkbox to use the VPN's gateway for everything. That just slows down everything else. Your computer will automagically know what goes through VPN and what doesn't.
