VPN Services Secure?

I want to set up a VPN connection between my office computer and home computer, and am too lazy to configure something like OpenVPN. I've used the built in Windows VPN software on XP Pro but it seems a bit flaky.

How secure are services such as Hamachi, or LeafNetworks.net, or Remobo.com? These are all the simple VPN creation software's that allow you to quickly set up peer to peer networking.

My question is, are they 100% secure from computer to computer, or can the service/software provider actually see the data in between? i know they say it is encrypted, but do they also hold a decryption key for the data?

Is this an ideal way to send sensitive data?

How "sensitive" is this information? If it really is highly sensitive data, I wouldn't let it go through any third party system or site. A direct site-to-site VPN/SSL connection would be more appropriate.
