VPN Server software

I'm looking for some freeware VPN software. The non-profit I'm volunteering at doesn't really have the budget for this kind of stuff, so I'm looking for something that's free (and runs ideally on Windows 2k3) to use at this place.

Anyone have any suggestions? The only freeware software I've found so far runs on Unix...

Win2k3 should be able to be setup as a RAS/VPN server for free, although if this server is mission essential, I wouldn't do it.

You could try using m0n0wall for free VPN.

Thanks guys!
That's exactly what I'm looking for. The server itself isn't what I would call mission critical. Right now, it's just used for sharing the printers and a file server...

Yep, Routing & Remote Access is a snap to set up for VPN access.

FYI, you should see if your organization qualifies to purchase software from TechSoup in the future. If so, it will save them BIG BUCKS on software and you'll look like a hero! To anyone else who does not work for a NFP and is thinking about trying to scam them--don't! They are very thorough in checking your tax records and organization background--you will NOT be able to buy cheap software from them as an individual.

WHOA!! You're my hero. I've visited the TechSoup site in the past maybe year or two ago, but the new program for public libraries is great. It's always been for 501c3's and now that it is open to public libraries, I will be using it. Microsoft only for public libraries, other participating vendors don't support public libraries, but I can save a bunch of taxpayer dollars regardless. :D

Cisco, Symantec, if you're reading this, get to your marketing department because you have a good size market in libraries who have unique, often complicated needs and very little money or expetise.

Glad to help! MS has changed a bunch of their requirements for donated SW in the past few years...a couple of my NFP clients who were previously ineligible now are.

Sorry for the threadjack, syee! ;)

Nice site.

However oddly enough while looking at their software recommendations I found my self in disagreement (might that their information in many pages is outdated).

As an Example.

They recommend RealVNC.

Ultr@VNC is free too and much better.

They Recommend Free version of WS_FTP.

FileZilla is free in both Client and server and just as Good.

Browsers

Netscape Communicator 4.7, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0.

Wh00t?

I'm assuming you're talking about TechSoup as it is the only link in this thread.

If so, I think you missed the point of my post, take a look at their stock page. I'm curious why you picked out one article posted by a third party 5 years ago and an old link in their download section to criticize?

Hi werk.

Well I am probably a Very concrete person (you know the ones that are Not very bright).
The original poster stated: I'm looking for somefreeware VPN software.

So I clicked on the link that you provided and in the center of the page there was (Wow):

Today in TechSoup
Three Free Software Applications You Can't Live Without.

I admit I did not even notice the extreme left corner of the page.

However if you made a little effort to type in this link. This exchange could be avoided.

Link to: Welcome to TechSoup Stock.
