VPN RAS Problem

I work with a company that allows us to work from home sometimes. I would like to do this, but my work laptop, doesnt seem to want to synchronize with my companies exchange server. I have tried several times to ping the exchange server, while connected to the VPN connection. I CAN ping by IP address, but cannot ping by hostname. I have tried using the Ipconfig /release and renew command, as well as the /flushdns command, thinking that it may be a dns problem...

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

I'm sure you're correct that it's at least due partly to a dns issue

if you do an ipconfig /all are any dns servers/gateways listed?
