VPN Question

Kinda a rant / question as to why this error happens, also i will point out i have a basic understanding of vpn.

We have a customer that uses the vpn to connect to the remote site but every now and then they get the "ike error phase 1 lost connection with peer".

to fix it we usually have to re-download the vpn connection settings and import them back into the vpn client and then all is good. Its frustrating that this is happening.

and the odd part is its seems only to happen with this 1 client as we have other clients setup the same way and the issue never happens.

the vpn setup that we use is the watchguard firebox with there mobile vpn software.
been doing it with different boxes, all the firmware updates and all the mobile vpn software updates

I have done some googling and it does not seem to be isolated to watchguard as i seen that error related to cisco

 
With Cisco that error is related to a misconfiguration. Once the config error is resolved, it goes away and doesn't come back. I don't know anything about watchguard, but it sounds like a software problem rather than a configuration problem.
