VPN IPSec lifetime woes

I can't seem to keep my 2 dlink di-804hv routers from dropping the VPN connection every time the IPSec key lifetime expires. I had it set to 3600 seconds, so every hour the router would not only drop the VPN connection, it would disrupt my brother's Everquest trader running over the normal WAN connection.

I have it set up:
IKE - 3DES SHA1 28800 seconds
IPSEC - ESP 3DES MDS 3600 sec

Watching the logs, the routers aren't even trying to renegotiate the IPSec key. I just don't get it.
