I have a Windows XP Professional computer using the integrated L2TP VPN client to a Sonicwall TZ-170 endpoint. I have each device configured according to Sonicwall's instructions. However, my computer consistently gives out two errors when attempting to connect to the TZ-170.

Error 789: The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountered a processing error during intial negotiations.

Error 792: The L2TP connection attempt failed because security negotation timed out.

Sonicwall Tech Support says that the problem lies withing the computer. Do you have any ideas? I have a WRT54G router with VPN passthrough enabled and my computer's firewall is off.

I appreciate the help but if I disabled L2TP and IPSec passthrough it wouldn't even get to the security negotiation phase. :)
