VPN Connection Problems

I used to be able to connect via VPN to my comapny's network, in order to access network drives, email, intranet, etc. (I access internet via cable modem)

"All of a sudden", about a month and a half ago now, I can't.

Well... I can connect, and the VPN connection is established, but everything runs really really slow, if at all.

Email will update, but it might take an hour to replicate, our chat client doesn't connect, internet and intranet pages look like they're connecting, but time out.

I have tickets open at work and with my local ISP, but to no avail so far. So I figured I would ask the AT community for any suggestions.

To my knowledge nothing has changed on the network (at home) or computer except for whatever patches push automatically. (We're usually slightly behind the Windows Update releases)

Thanks.

with the VPN disconnected, is the connection working (i.e. speedtests and pages/downloads are full speed)

My first stab in the dark would be MTU problems.

Yup...on the same laptop I can access internet just fine.

Once I connect to VPN... notta...

My company's helpdesk had me set the MTU to 1300, which didn't help.

At the suggestion of a couple sites I read, I played with that number, but nothing has helped, so at the moment it's set back to 1300, per the corporate helpdesk.

My local ISP helpdesk had me disable AV and firewall (but technically that violates my company's usage policy) but that didn't make a difference anyway.
