vpn connection drops out

Hi guys. Heres one for ya and im sure its come up a few times before.

Basically, our VPN connection drops out after about 5 minutes with an error saying "the remote peer stop responding" or something similar.

The other 3 PC's on the network use the same VPN connection and they work fine except this one. Positive this computer has no firewall or anything.

The connection connects fine, and when I go into the program that uses this connection, if the connection has not been inactive, i will be able to access the website that uses this connection.

However, if the connection has been idle for say 5 minutes, if i try to access the function that uses this VPN, then this program will come up with a connection error and within 30 seconds, the VPN connection will disconnect.

So basically, it doesnt say that it is disconnected until you go to use it.

Have been on the phone to helpdesk all day and they suggest that it is our PC and nothing to do with them. They have checked all our settings and said that they are fine.

Any advice appreciated

Sounds like the timers are different between the client and vpn endpoint. It would be helpful if you could actually time it exactly or get a packet capture with wireshark.

Sorry guys. Yes its the VPN client from cisco.

In terms of timing, thats whats weird though. The person who uses this computer tells me it drops out every 5 minutes but when I used it, I had it connected for 18 minutes before using WinBeat (an application that uses this VPN) and this is when the connection drops out, so im thinking it doesnt have anything to do with the timers..
