VP9 - does only a 1050I + 1080I card support this?

Dont forget AMDs offerings. I believe their 400/500 series GPU and recent APUs support VP9 decoding.

I have read hardware-accelerated decoding of VP9 video is available only on the most recent generations of CPUs/GPUs.

  • Intel Kaby Lake
  • Nvidia Maxwell (later models) or Pascal
  • AMD Polaris or Vega
Nvidia pure video

read Gundark's answer

From wikipedia - The UVD 7.0 decoder and video Coding Engine 4.0 encoder are included in the Vega based GPUs. [24] [25] But there is still no fixed function VP9 hardware decoding.

Nvidia Maxwell only 1050TI +1080TI

  • Intel Kaby Lake -
Problems with drivers, each time working and not working and only 8BIT
Contras is not good in OLED

rwnrwnn7 that is interesting to know. OP you might also want to research AV1 which is intended to succeed VP9.

youTube's AV1 encoder still does not exist!
Is in the manufacturer's checks.
therefore, you can not search for a card to support this.
